Some of us are in Middle School for the first time, where you have to worry about lockers, changing classes, and completely different kids for the first time.
Some of us are finally into the big time, High School. Where us little freshman walk through the crowded halls of our school, worried about the massive giants towering over us.
And some of us have changed schools, going to a different and unfamiliar place all alone.
Yet some of us Christian teenagers have returned to a familiar school with familiar people and peers. But still, you are worried and nervous about what people will think of you, whether or not your'll be accepted and how you can possibly remember their stupid school ID for the third year in a row!
Yes, a new school year is intimidating indeed. And especially for us Christians. We have to worry about people who might not like us because of our faith. And sometimes we are faced with the difficult choice of popularity . . . or God.
But in heaven those who reject the sinful and wicked will be rewarded.
Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world. But be transformed by the renewal of your mind that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. - ESV
Do not conform to the world. Do not do what is cool simply because it's what everyone else is doing. Rather, do as God asks, and he will reward you.
I know you all have things that are on your minds. I know that it's hard to stand up for your faith. And sometimes you will fail, no one is perfect. There are dozens of times that I've remained silent when someone yanked at my cross necklace or cussed me out because I'm a Christian.
But the Lord forgives. And you will have hundreds of more chances to do it right.
Still, you are worried. I'm worried. But this school year, let's work together to keep our faith, and conform to Jesus.
Let's discuss worries we have about our new school year. Religious or not, tell me what's on your mind.
